The Missing Chapters Back to home

Privacy policy

Last updated: 5 November 2026. Draft for legal review before publishing.

The Missing Chapters is sold by Meg Asia Limited, a Hong Kong company (Business Registration No. 59582136) and part of the Meg group (My Education Group). This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, join our early list, pre-order or use the course, and how we look after it.

Who this is for

The Missing Chapters is sold to parents and carers. Only adults can join the early list, pre-order or create an account. Children use the course through an account their parent or carer sets up, and we never advertise to children.

What we collect

  • Early list: your first name, email, your child's age and whether you homeschool.
  • Group enquiries: your name, email, organisation, number of learners and country.
  • Pre-orders and purchases: your name, email and order details. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
  • Course use (from 2027): your child's first name or nickname, their progress, the work they upload and their private journal entries. We don't need a child's surname, address, school or photo.
  • Website use: pages visited, the ad or link you came from, device and browser type, and cookies (see below).

How we use it

  • To tell you when the free demo opens and send updates about The Missing Chapters. You can unsubscribe from any email.
  • To process pre-orders, purchases and refunds. Pre-orders get a full refund if you ask within 3 days of paying, or within 3 days after the demo opens.
  • To run the course, save your child's progress and provide features such as AI feedback on writing.
  • To answer enquiries and improve the website and course.
  • To measure our advertising, as explained below.

Cookies and advertising

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies, and the Meta Pixel to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to sign-ups and orders. The Meta Pixel sets cookies and shares limited information about your visit with Meta. We don't use children's course data for advertising, and we don't sell personal information. You can block these cookies in your browser.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run The Missing Chapters, and only what they need:

  • Stripe (payments)
  • Google (Google Sheets and Gmail, to store the early list and send updates)
  • Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services (hosting)
  • Cloudflare and Meta (website analytics and ad measurement, website data only)
  • AI providers that power course features such as writing feedback, under agreements that stop them using your data to train their models

Children's privacy

We collect children's information only with a parent's or carer's consent, given when they set up the child's account. For children under 13 in the United States, we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents can see, correct or delete their child's information at any time by contacting us. A child's private journal entries are visible only to the child and are never shared.

Where it is stored

Meg Asia Limited is based in Hong Kong. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare's global network and our course platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Members of the Meg group in other countries help run it. Some of our service providers, such as Stripe, Google and Meta, store information in the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep early list details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep account and course data while the account is open and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request. We keep order records as long as tax law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you or your child, and unsubscribe from emails at any time. Meg Asia Limited is the data user responsible for your information, and we handle it in line with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486). Under that Ordinance you can ask for a copy of your data (a data access request) and ask us to correct it, and we will respond within 40 days. We may charge a fee that is not excessive for a data access request. We won't use your data for direct marketing without your consent, and you can opt out at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under other laws, such as US state privacy laws or the GDPR.
