The Missing Chapters Back to home

Terms of sale and use

Last updated: 5 November 2026. Draft for legal review before publishing.

Please read these terms before you buy. In short: you're buying access to an online course for your own family; you can get a full refund within 3 days of paying or within 3 days after the demo opens; the course is education, not advice; and Hong Kong law applies.

1. Who we are

The Missing Chapters is an online course sold by Meg Asia Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (Business Registration No. 59582136), of Room 806, Capitol Centre, 5–19 Jardine's Bazaar, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong (“we”, “us”). Meg Asia Limited is part of the Meg group. These terms form the agreement between you and us when you join the early list, pre-order, buy or use the course.

2. Who can buy

You must be 18 or over to buy or create an account. The course is designed for learners aged 11 to 16, whether they homeschool or go to school, who use it through an account you set up and are responsible for. By adding a learner, you confirm you are their parent, carer or have their parent's permission.

3. What you are buying

  • Free demo: a short sample from each of the four chapters, at no cost.
  • One chapter: access to one chapter for one learner for 12 months from the date of purchase.
  • All four chapters: access to all four chapters for one learner for 36 months from the date of purchase, or from the date the course opens if you pre-order. Each additional brother or sister in the same household can be added for the price shown at checkout.
  • Access is for personal, non-commercial use in your home. Schools, co-ops and other groups need a group licence; ask us for group pricing.

4. Pre-orders and the founding price

  • Pre-orders at the founding price (US$149 for all four chapters) are open until the free demo opens, which we expect in early 2027.
  • We will email you when your access is ready. Course content may be released in stages, but the free demo will open first.
  • If we have not opened the course to you by 30 June 2028, we will refund your pre-order in full automatically, unless you choose to keep it.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars unless the checkout shows otherwise, and include any taxes we are required to charge. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Your card provider may charge currency conversion or international transaction fees. Your card statement will show a charge from Meg Asia Limited or the descriptor shown at checkout.

6. Refunds

You can get a full refund if you ask within 3 days of paying, or within 3 days after the free demo opens. Email [email protected] from the address you used to pay. Refunds go back to the original card, usually within 5–10 business days. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Your account

Keep your login details private and don't share an account between households. You are responsible for activity on your account, including your learner's use. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.

8. Acceptable use

  • Don't copy, share, resell, record or publish course materials, or give others access to them.
  • Don't upload anything unlawful, hurtful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Don't try to break, scrape or reverse engineer the platform.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If we close an account for a serious or repeated breach, we won't refund the remaining access period.

9. Educational content only

The Missing Chapters is general education. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, medical or psychological advice, and it is not therapy. The money game uses simplified numbers and long-run averages; it does not predict real returns. The Happiness chapter teaches about wellbeing but cannot replace professional help. If your child is struggling, please talk to your doctor or a mental health professional.

10. Real-world activities

Some lessons ask learners to try things in the real world, such as a small selling project, a savings plan or a difficult conversation. Parents and carers are responsible for deciding whether an activity is suitable and safe, supervising it, and making sure it follows local laws (for example, rules about children selling door to door or handling money).

11. AI features

Some features, such as feedback on writing, use artificial intelligence. AI feedback can be wrong or incomplete, so treat it as a guide, not a mark or professional opinion. We don't use your child's work to train AI models, as explained in our privacy policy.

12. Intellectual property

We, or our licensors, own all rights in the course, the platform, the games and the materials. We give you a limited, non-transferable licence to use them for your household's learning during your access period. Work your learner creates stays theirs; you give us permission to store and display it so the course can work.

13. Changes to the course

We keep improving the course, so lessons, games and features may change. We won't make changes that significantly reduce what you paid for during your access period. If we do need to, we'll tell you and offer a pro-rata refund.

14. Availability

We aim to keep the course available at all times but can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may pause it for maintenance and will try to give notice.

15. Our liability

We provide the course with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you or your learner make based on course content, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies, including the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71) and the Supply of Services (Implied Terms) Ordinance (Cap. 457) of Hong Kong.

16. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. Refunds after the refund window in section 6 are at our discretion, except where the law requires them. We may close the course or your account with reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of any unused paid access.

17. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we collect and use personal information, including children's information, under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects you materially, we'll email you before it takes effect. The version that applied when you paid continues to cover that purchase, unless the change is required by law.

19. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If a dispute arises, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. Otherwise, the courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction, which means you may also be able to bring a claim in the courts where you live. No one other than you and us has rights under these terms, and the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623) does not apply.

20. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to another Meg group company, and will tell you if we do.
